Morton’s Neuroma
Pain in the ball of the foot can make even short walks uncomfortable. Morton’s Neuroma is a common condition caused by irritation or thickening of the nerve that runs between the toes, most commonly between the third and fourth toes.
Many people describe the sensation as walking on a pebble or having a fold in their sock, often accompanied by burning pain, tingling or numbness in the toes.
What causes Morton’s Neuroma?
The condition often develops due to repeated pressure on the nerve. Tight footwear, high heels, certain sporting activities and underlying foot mechanics can all contribute to its development.
A thorough assessment allows us to identify the factors that may be causing your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
Treatment options
Treatment may include footwear advice, padding to relieve pressure, activity modification and bespoke orthotics to improve foot function and reduce irritation of the affected nerve.
Early treatment often produces the best results and may help avoid the need for more invasive interventions.
